茨城、普通にいい場所だった。
初つくば駅です。来年6月の藝大美術館での展示に向け制作協力者の方と打ち合わせのためつくば駅にやって来ました。
科学リテラシー高い系のまち
何も見るところはないよ〜、とうかがっていました。茨城県の駅は基本的に取手駅のイメージがあるので、ややさびれた印象のイメージがありましたが、開けてびっくり玉手箱でした。
つくば駅！めっちゃリア充タウンでした！！！
理想的な郊外型都市です。駅近に複合的ショッピングモール、公園、美術館、図書館などの公共福祉インフラが整備されていて、つくばに国が作る学園研究都市の底力を見せられた気がしました。
以前から、つくばには東大関係者やドクターの学位取得者が住んでいる意識リアル高い系の民が住んでいると聞いていたのですが、それは確からしい情報だと思いました。
朝から行列のできる図書館
朝から図書館に行列ができ、車で走れば緑が整備されていて、とても過ごしやすそうな印象を持ちました。イクメンとして最近は育児に適した街に住みたいなとも考えていたので、街を見る目も自然と子育て特化型のまちに高印象を覚えます。
中でも感動したのは、未来への道です。
科学は人の幸福のために使われてこそ本物の科学であるということを感じました。アインシュタインの相対性理論は原爆のために使われるのでなく、私たちを温めてくれる光としてあるべきなのだと改めて再確認しました。
子どもの頃からこうした意識高いまちに住めば自然と子ども達の科学リテラシーも向上する気がします。
今、リテラシー教育が各分野から声高に叫ばれていますが、こうした意識高いまちに住むことが子どもや親にとってもデフォルトでリテラシーが身につくと思いました。お茶の間の人のリテラシーをメディアの力を使って変えるのではなく、まちそのものから人を変えていくことの可能性を見ました。とはいえ、そのまちを作っているのはそのまちに住む人なので、卵か鶏が先か議論に陥る可能性もありますね。

風土記の名所、石岡市へ
石岡市は獅子頭のお祭りで有名なまちです。宮平遺跡という縄文時代から続く遺跡があります。風土記の記述も常陸地方に関しては8割が奇跡的に残っており、古の歴史の確度が高い情報に満ちたまちです。
常陸国風土記（ひたちのくにふどき）は、奈良時代初期の713年（和銅6年）に編纂され、721年（養老5年）に成立した、常陸国（現在の茨城県の大部分）の地誌である。 口承的な説話の部分は変体の漢文体、歌は万葉仮名による和文体の表記による。（Wikipedia「常陸国風土記」より）

ここに奈良時代に政権の国府があったのですね。想像してみると豊かな気持ちになります。ここで生き愛し死んだ人たちがいた。今と変わらぬ人間の本質に触れられます。死んだ人の方が生者よりも雄弁で多くを語ることもあります。

自然豊かな公園です。家族連れも多数。みなそれぞれにそれぞれの時間を過ごしていました。
茨城は眠った土地です。関東最大の平野を持ち、ジャガイモからさつまいも、りんご、みかん、なんでも採れる最高に素敵な土地です。特産物として有名なものはそれほどありませんが、東京の胃袋を支えているのはまぎれもないこの茨城の平野です。茨城、もっとフォーカスが当たってもいいのになぁ、と思い、制作協力者に話したところ、このほっとかれてる感こそが茨城の魅力なのだ、と大変深いお言葉をいただきました。茨城、俺はお前のすごさをわかってるからな。これからもよろしくな！
